The Blessing You Didn’t Know You Had
Earth’s riches are nothing compared to heaven’s dew.
GM. This is Soul Food, the bible newsletter that's more exciting than waiting for your dial-up internet to finally connect.
☀️☀️☀️ Here’s the forecast today:
In Genesis 27:28, Isaac blesses Jacob, saying:
“May God give you heaven’s dew and earth’s richness, an abundance of grain and new wine.”
This blessing is layered with meaning. Isaac starts with heaven’s dew—not rain, storms or floods, but dew. Gentle. Subtle. Almost invisible. Dew forms quietly, overnight, and yet it refreshes the earth plus provides growth. It speaks of God’s provision that doesn’t always come loudly, but it comes faithfully.
Then Isaac compares it with earth’s richness. In the original Hebrew, “richness” refers to fatness—excess, overflow. Not just having enough, but more than enough. That’s the kind of blessing God desires to pour out.
Now here’s the interesting thing: Heaven’s dew is mentioned alongside earth’s richness, meaning that even just a drop of heaven’s dew is the same as all the riches of the earth. So thats one touch of Heaven for all the money, cars, volcanos, and anything else you want to add! If you think about where dew comes from—it comes from the ground, reminding us that true blessing doesn’t rise from our effort, but it comes fromt the God who lives inside of us.
As born-again Christians, we walk in this blessing. So if you’re waiting for breakthrough—don’t just look around you. Look at the God who lives in you. Because even the smallest evidence of heaven’s dew can change everything.
🔑🔑🔑 Key takeaways:
God’s blessings often come quietly, like dew—not loudly like storms.
Earthly wealth is no match for even a drop of heaven’s favour.
True breakthrough comes from looking up, not around.
