Step Aside

Let God fight your battles instead of taking matters into your hands

GM. This is Soul Food, the newsletter that's like a Nerf gun battle – fast, fun, and action-packed.

πŸš€πŸš€πŸš€ Here's what we're exploring today:

David and his men had been protecting Nabal's flocks in the wilderness. When shearing time came, David politely asked for provisions. Despite all the protection, Nabal arrogantly refused and mocked him.

David was furious x3000. He grabbed his sword and prepared to destroy Nabal's entire household. Justice was about to be served, David-style. But Nabal's wife, Abigail, heard what happened. Without telling her husband, she gathered food and wine, loaded up the donkeys, and intercepted David before things got bloody.

She bowed before David and pleaded with him not to take vengeance. She reminded him that the Lord would fight his battles. This act of revenge would stain his conscience forever. David listened. He thanked Abigail for preventing him from sinning out of anger.

Ten days later, God struck Nabal down.

Here's the lesson: God loved David so much that He prevented David from sinning through Abigail. God Himself brought justice by striking down Nabal.

Vengeance belongs to the Lord, not to us. Step back and let God fight your battles.

πŸ”‘πŸ”‘πŸ”‘ Key takeaways:

  • God love you so much that he will intervene to prevent you from sinning

  • Vengeance belongs to God alone, not to us

  • When you step back, God steps in to fight your battles
