Uncover the power of praise from the book of Ezra
GM. This is Soul Food, the bible newsletter that gives you the same feeling as being in your friend’s Top 8 on Myspace. If you know, you know.
🍰🍰🍰 Here's the menu today:
In Ezra 3, the Israelites are rebuilding the temple. When the foundation was laid, something beautiful happened, the people erupted in praise and rejoicing. But here's the thing: whilst some celebrated, others wept.
The older generation remembered Solomon's temple in all its glory. They looked at this new foundation and saw what it lacked compared to the magnificent structure they once knew. Their weeping represented disappointment, comparison, and doubt about what was being built.
But here's the powerful bit: verse 13 tells us that the sound of joyful shouting drowned out the weeping. The praise was louder than the pessimism!
This is a picture for us today. When you're building something new – whether it's a business, a ministry, or simply rebuilding your life, there will always be voices of doubt. Some will compare your fresh start to what came before. Others will question whether you can achieve what you're aiming for.
But your praise must be greater than their doubt. Your faith in God's ability to do something magnificent through you has to be louder than every negative voice telling you it won't work.
Let your praise drown out the doubters. God is still in the construction business!
🔑🔑🔑 Key takeaways:
Your praise must be louder than the voices of doubt around you
Don't let comparisons to past glory diminish your current progress
Faith-filled praise is your weapon against discouragement
