Remember Lot’s Wife
Forget the Past, Embrace the Future 🔑
GM. This is Soul Food. Where we serve bible insights on a silver platter, no silverware needed.
🍰🍰🍰 Here’s the menu today:
In the Bible, there is one person that Jesus says to remember. Want to guess who? If you said Moses, you would be… wrong! Paul? Wrong! But if you thought/said Lot’s wife, you’d be right! So the question is, what is Lot’s wife known for? Lot’s wife is known for looking back and turning into a pillar of salt. So when Jesus says to remember Lot’s wife, He is saying to us to forget the past and move on to the better things that are ahead of us.
Notice, it’s one thing to forget the past. It’s another to move on. If you had a business venture fail, move on and try again. If you had a relationship fail, forget the failure and try again. Whatever it is, do not dwell on your failures. It is time to move on to the next thing.
I am sure most of you know Roger Federer—he is known as one of the best tennis players of all time. When asked what makes him so good, he doesn’t say his serve, his speed, or how hard he can hit the ball. Instead, he attributes his success to his ability to forget his bad shots. You see, Roger has won 80% of all his matches but only won 52% of all his points. This means for every point he wins, he will lose one. So his ability to forget the misses and reset is pivotal to him being able to win.
This is the same for us. We may get down sometimes, we may fail, but do not stay there. Don’t dwell on the errors. Instead, bounce back and try again! One of my favourite TD Jakes quotes is: “Your history is not your destiny!” and I’ll leave it there today.
🔑🔑🔑 Key takeaways:
Jesus’ command to remember Lot’s wife reminds us to forget the past and focus on what lies ahead.
Success is about resilience: don’t dwell on failures but learn, reset, and move forward.
Your history does not determine your destiny—embrace the future with confidence.
