Move Before You're Ready
Imperfect action beats perfect hesitation
GM. This is Soul Food we pack this newsletter like a lunchbox β nutritious, satisfying, and exactly what you need to fuel your day.
β β β Here's what's on the agenda today:
In 2 Samuel 17, David is on the run. His own son Absalom has seized the throne and is now hunting him down.
Absalom calls two advisors. Ahithophel speaks first. His advice? Go now. Strike David while he is tired, weak and unsettled. Do not build up, do not wait, do not overthink it. Just go. Then Hushai steps in. Wait. Gather every soldier from Dan to Beersheba. Get fully prepared. Build the perfect plan. Then attack.
Absalom chose Hushai's advice. And it cost him everything. Here is the thing: Ahithophel's advice was better. The Bible even tells us so. The first move, the imperfect one, the one that said go before you are completely ready, was the right one.
How many times have you waited for perfect timing, perfect resources, or perfect confidence before taking the first step? The business, the course, the conversation, the prayer. Waiting for ready is often just fear wearing a suit.
Go now. Imperfect action beats perfect hesitation every single time. You do not need to be ready. You just need to move.
πππ Key takeaways:
Perfect timing doesnβt exist. The first step forward, however imperfect, is usually the right one.
Waiting until you are fully ready is often just fear dressed up as wisdom.
Go now. Imperfect action beats perfect hesitation every time.
