Joshua & The Commander of the Lord’s Army 🎖️
The battle is not ours, the battle belongs to the Lord

GM. This is Soul Food. We present bible knowlege like a gourmet meal – a feast for your soul, no reservation required.
🗺️🗺️🗺️ Here’s what’s on the map today:
In Joshua 5:13-14, Joshua lifts his eyes, sees a man, and asks him, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” to which the man responds, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the LORD. Now I have come.”
A few things to note:
Joshua lifted his eyes and when he did, he found his solution. Lift your eyes to Jesus and by doing so, you will focus on the SUPPLY.
When the commander of the LORD replies “No” to Joshua’s question, it means that the LORD’s army is not for Jericho (who is the enemy); this is obvious. But it also means that the LORD’s army is NOT for Israel. Therefore the army of the Lord was not on either side. So what does it mean? It means that the battle is not Israel’s or Joshua’s, but, it is the LORD’s. Likewise for us, the battle is not ours but the battle is the LORD’s.
When the Israelites walked around the walls of Jericho, Joshua put priests with trumpets at the front. This shows worship going first and shows that the eyes of Israel are on God (the supply).
The commander of the army also says, “Now I have come”. The root word for “now” means “to respond” and “have come” means “to go in”. Therefore, when you read the verse it reads, “Now I have responded, go in”. When God responds, we go in. And God responds when we put our eyes on Him.
We are the Joshuas’ who keep our eyes on the Supply. No, the battle is not yours, it is God’s. Because He has come, we can enter.
🔑🔑🔑 Key takeaways:
Keep your head up and your eyes on God.
The battle is not yours. The battle belongs to God.
God has come so we can receive and enter into.
