God's True Position
Storage versus celebration: which king are you following today?
GM. This is the Soul Food, the only bible newsletter that gives you the same feelings as waking up to Saturday morning cartoons.
ποΈποΈποΈ Here's what's in stock today:
In 2 Samuel 6, we see two kings with completely different approaches to God's presence. Lets use the Ark of the Covenant as an example, during the entire time of Sauls reign the Ark stayed in Abinadab's house whilst Israel's first king got on with running the country. This wasn't an oversight (Ark is BIG DEAL), it was a statement. Saul treated God like an after thought, useful in emergencies but not essential for daily driving.
Enter David. The moment he becomes king, he's choreographing a parade to bring the Ark to Jerusalem. Yes, there's the Uzzah incident, but notice David's response, he doesn't abandon the mission, he learns the proper way to honour God's holiness and 3 months later bring the Ark to Jerusalem.
Here's the difference: Saul saw God as distant and secondary to his agenda. David saw God as essential and worth celebrating. One king kept God in storage, the other put Him at the centre of the nations life.
The question isn't whether God is available to you, He is. The question is whether you'll treat Him like Saul's after thought or David's treasure. Your approach to God's presence reveals whether you see Him as backup or as your foundation.
πππ Key takeaways:
Saul kept God's presence sidelined throughout his reign, treating Him as secondary
David prioritised bringing God's presence to the centre of Israel's life despite setbacks
Your approach to God reveals whether you see Him as backup or foundation
