When you think of the Bible Hall of Fame, you think of Moses, Elisha, Paul, Joseph, and the list goes on.
We will focus on Joseph, the son of Jacob. Joseph’s story is interesting because his early years were nothing to shout about. In fact, he was his father’s favourite son, which caused 10 of his other brothers to be jealous of him, so much so that they sold him.
Following this, Joseph was then falsely accused, put in prison for a few years, and yet still rose to become ruler over Egypt. Egypt was like the USA of their time — a powerhouse, if you will.
While he was ruler of Egypt, Joseph had two sons. The first was named Manasseh and the second Ephraim.
Manasseh means “to forget,” and in Genesis 41:51 it says, “For God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father’s house.”
So, there are two things which are forgotten here:
Hardships – representing the losses, the failures, and the faults.
Joseph’s father’s house – in particular, his brothers selling him. Plus, also what was comfortable to him. To move forward, you need to let go of your father’s house, the old methods and traditions that have no value, and let go of old ideas, for example.
Joseph’s second son is Ephraim, which means “fruitful.” Genesis 41:52 says, “God has made me fruitful in the land of my afflictions.” I absolutely love this! Even when you are in a foreign land, a brand new job, or country, God will make you fruitful.
But before Ephraim (fruitfulness), there was Manasseh (to forget). Before you move into fruitfulness, you need to let go and forget each time you were hurt, every time you failed in business, relationships, and exams. Once you forget the old ways of doing things, you will move into the Ephraim way — the fruitful lifestyle.
Let go and move into fruitfulness!
🔑🔑🔑 Key takeaways:
• Let go of past failures and hurts. By doing so, you create an environment where God can bless you in the land of fruitfulness.
