David's Crazy Fortnight

π°π°π° Here's the menu today:
David was literally about to line up with the Philistines to fight against Israel - his own people. Obviously, he didn't want to do it, but he was living under King Achish and had to play along. When the Philistine commanders told him he couldn't join the battle, David pulled off what's arguably the biggest lie in the Bible: "What have I done that I can't fight?" (1 Samuel 29:8). He had absolutely no intention of fighting Israel, but it's funny how he says it anyway.
So David heads back to Ziklag, only to find the city burnt, his family taken captive, his cattle gone, and his men so distraught they're ready to stone him. In that moment of despair, David strengthens himself in the Lord, goes after the Amalekites, and wins everything back - every wife, every child, every possession.
When he returns, he learns that whilst all this was happening, the Philistines had fought Israel and Saul was killed in battle. Within two weeks, David goes from being rejected by the Philistines, to losing everything, to reclaiming it all, to hearing of Saul's death - and then being anointed king over Judah.
Through all of it, God was working His plan, and it turned out well for David because he became king of Judah. So don't look at your struggles just as struggles. Look at them knowing God's working in the background.
