Back Roads
The unexpected route can bring the greatest victory
GM. This is the Soul Food, the only bible newsletter that gives you the same feelings as waking up to Saturday morning cartoons.
π₯π₯π₯ Hereβs what weβre serving up today:
In Judges chapter 8, verse 11, Gideon takes an unexpected route. Scripture says he went by the way of the tent dwellers east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and he attacked the enemy while they felt secure.
This detail matters.
The way of the tent dwellers was not the obvious path. It was the back road. The route no one expected an army to take. Gideon did not follow logic.
Because the enemy trusted what made sense to them, they relaxed. They felt safe because everything looked predictable. But their confidence was misplaced. Gideon arrived from a direction they never planned for.
There is a lesson here for us.
Many of us want God to move in ways that are logical, explainable, and comfortable. We want straight lines and clear plans. But God often works through routes we would never choose. Back roads. Delays. Detours. Unexpected doors.
When you place your confidence in logic alone, peace is fragile. When you place your confidence in God, peace is unshakable.
Donβt be discouraged if the path looks strange. God may simply be taking the back road to bring about a decisive victory!
πππ Key takeaways:
God often delivers through unexpected routes.
Logic can create false security.
Trust in God produces true peace.
