Ask Like a Child
Know your Father. Ask bigger.
GM. This is Soul Food, where we crack open the Bible like a lunchbox and find out there's way more inside than you expected.
β β β Here's what's on the agenda today:
In Judges 1, Caleb's daughter Achsah asks her husband Othniel to request a field from her father. But Achsah doesn't stop there. She goes directly to Caleb herself and asks for springs of water. Not one spring. Multiple springs. And Caleb gives her both the upper and lower springs.
Here's what's interesting. Othniel, the son-in-law, asks for a field. Achsah, the daughter, asks for springs. Bear in mind they are in a desert. A spring in the desert isn't just valuable, it is everything.
The difference between what Othniel asked for and what Achsah asked for comes down to one thing: relationship. A daughter knows her father. She knows his character, his generosity, and his love. That knowledge gives her the confidence to ask big.
This is the point. The closer you are to God, the bigger you ask. Not because you are greedy, but because you know who He is. You know His nature. You know He delights in giving.
You are not a stranger asking for a favour. You are a child asking a Father. Ask like one.
πππ Key takeaways:
Your proximity to God determines the size of your ask.
You are not a stranger. You are a child of God. Ask accordingly.
Caleb gave Achsah both springs. God does not do half measures.
